The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed a viral social media claim alleging that it is secretly recruiting personnel, describing the report as false and misleading.
In a post shared on its official X account on Monday, the anti-graft agency urged members of the public to disregard the claim and avoid falling victim to misinformation.
The commission accompanied its statement with a graphic boldly marked “FAKE NEWS” and “THIS IS FALSE NEWS. BEWARE!”, refuting a widely circulated message that claimed the EFCC was conducting a secret recruitment exercise and that successful applicants would begin training next month.
By officially debunking the claim, the EFCC reiterated that no such recruitment exercise is underway.
The clarification comes amid recurring attempts by fraudsters to circulate fake recruitment notices in the commission’s name to deceive job seekers and extort money from unsuspecting Nigerians.
The EFCC stressed that all its recruitment exercises are publicly advertised through its official communication channels and are never conducted secretly or through third parties.
The commission advised the public to verify information relating to its activities through its official platforms before taking any action, warning Nigerians to remain vigilant against online scams and misinformation.
