The government of Equatorial Guinea has resigned after reportedly failing to meet key performance targets set by the country’s leadership.
Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced that Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua submitted the collective resignation of the cabinet, citing the government’s inability to achieve more than 10 per cent of its objectives.
In a statement shared on social media, the vice president said the decision followed an assessment of the administration’s performance, although specific targets that were missed were not disclosed.
The ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea noted that the outgoing government had implemented several initiatives in public administration, infrastructure development, public services, and economic growth during its tenure.
According to the party, the mass resignation forms part of an institutional reorganisation process aimed at aligning government structures with emerging national priorities and development goals.
The move comes under the leadership of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who has governed the Central African nation since 1979 and remains the world’s longest-serving sitting president.
Political observers say the cabinet reshuffle could pave the way for a restructured administration focused on accelerating policy implementation and improving governance outcomes.
