The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commissioned the newly upgraded Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), as part of efforts to modernise the nation’s aviation infrastructure.
The upgraded terminal features enhanced baggage handling systems, modern check-in facilities, improved passenger lounges, upgraded air-conditioning systems and other critical infrastructure aimed at improving passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Olubunmi Kuku, said the project demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to upgrading airport infrastructure and enhancing the travel experience across Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that the Federal Government had approved ₦46 billion for the rehabilitation of the airport’s primary and secondary runways.
According to the minister, the investment will further strengthen Kano’s position as a major aviation hub serving Northern Nigeria.
Chairman of the FAAN Board, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, described the upgraded terminal as another demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to renewing critical infrastructure under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He commended the Ministry of Aviation and FAAN management for delivering projects that will improve service delivery, boost the aviation sector and support economic growth.
