Nigeria’s Falconets secured a hard-fought goalless draw against China at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland on Thursday.
The Nigerian side stood firm against a Chinese team expected to dominate the encounter, frustrating their opponents throughout the Group F clash at the Sosnowiec Stadium.
Despite China’s pressure, the Falconets defended resolutely, while Nigeria also created opportunities but struggled to convert their set pieces. The team earned a 7–2 advantage in corner kicks.
The result leaves Nigeria with one point from two matches, following their opening 2–0 defeat to Spain. Spain currently lead the group, while China remain in second place after their earlier victory over New Caledonia.
The Falconets will need a positive result in their final group match to boost their chances of advancing to the knockout stage.
