Nigeria’s Falconets have secured a place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after recording a resounding 10-1 victory over New Caledonia in their final Group F match in Poland.
The emphatic win at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź saw Nigeria finish second in the group with four points, behind Spain, and set up a knockout-stage clash against Group E winners England on Thursday.
Winner Onajite David was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick as the Falconets produced their biggest win of the tournament. Ramotalahi Kareem, Tosin Rafiu and Rebecca Adegbeimile were also among the goals as Nigeria overwhelmed their opponents.
The Falconets will now turn their attention to England, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake. Nigeria, two-time runners-up in the competition, will hope to carry the confidence from their record-breaking victory into the knockout stage.
