The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Ahmed Sanusi, has ordered the orderly room trial of four police officers accused of abandoning their duty posts and extorting ₦52,000 from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN).
The officers—ASP Clement Ehigala, ASP Sunday Okpe, Inspector Samuel Onoja, and Sergeant Yakubu Emmanuel—were arrested following the incident, which allegedly occurred on July 11, 2026, at Banex Plaza Junction, Wuse II, Abuja.
According to the FCT Police Command, the officers allegedly left their assigned duty posts to carry out an unauthorised traffic enforcement operation, during which they stopped a motorist for an alleged traffic violation and extorted ₦52,000. The motorist was later identified as the ICPC Chairman.
Following a complaint, the Commissioner of Police directed the immediate arrest of the officers and ordered disciplinary proceedings against them for abandoning their lawful duties, conducting unauthorised traffic enforcement, and engaging in the alleged extortion.
The FCT Police Command said the officers are currently undergoing an orderly room trial in line with established police disciplinary procedures.
