The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) at the Federal Polytechnic Offa has raised alarm over what it describes as a suspicious and outrageous N507.9 million proposed for the accreditation of 21 departments.
ASUP Chairman, Dr. Idowu Atilola, claimed in a statement on Monday, citing a memo from the institution’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Waheed Oyelola Balogun, to the Rector.
He compared the figure to a previous exercise, stating that 33 departments were accredited under the former Rector, Dr. Kamoru Kadiri, in the 2023/2024 session for about N50 million.
ASUP insists that its demand to be involved in accreditation exercises is now further justified, calling for transparency and accountability in the process.
