The Federal Government has arraigned three suspects before the Federal High Court in Abuja over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The defendants—Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa and Shamsu Adamu Sani—are facing a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement and illegal mining.
According to the charge, the suspects allegedly conspired between January and May 2026 to kidnap the victims, aided the operation, concealed information about the alleged masterminds and professed membership of Darul Salam, an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Ansaru.
The Federal Government also accused Abdulrazak Umar of providing terrorist training and inciting violence through a WhatsApp group, as well as engaging in unlawful gold mining in Niger State.
Security sources said investigations have been concluded and the suspects are expected to formally take their plea in court next week, while investigations into other suspects continue.
