The Federal Government has arraigned three suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The suspects—Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (Abu Itisar)—were arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a 10-count chargebordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and illegal mining.
According to the charge, the defendants allegedly conspired with other suspects between January and May 2026 to kidnap the victims, aid the operation and conceal information about the alleged masterminds, in violation of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The prosecution also alleged that the suspects professed membership of Darul Salam, described as an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Ansaru.
In addition, the first defendant, Abdulrazak Umar, is accused of providing terrorist training, inciting terrorism through a WhatsApp group and engaging in illegal gold mining in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.
