The Federal Government has dismissed reports claiming that registration has commenced for a ₦50,000 National Support Allowance, describing the information as false and warning Nigerians to beware of online fraudsters.
In a public notice issued by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, the ministry clarified that it has not launched any registration exercise for the alleged programme.
The ministry urged members of the public to disregard messages, websites, and application links promoting the purported allowance, stressing that they are fraudulent and intended to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.
It also advised Nigerians to verify information on government social intervention programmes only through official government communication channels.
The clarification follows the circulation of a fake flyer on social media claiming that the ₦50,000 allowance had been introduced on the directive of President Bola Tinubu and directing applicants to a suspicious website to submit their personal details.
The ministry warned that similar scams have previously targeted beneficiaries of government intervention programmes and urged the public to remain vigilant.
