The Federal Government is mobilising 492 billion fibre optic network investment to enhance broadband connectivity and fast-track Nigeria’s digital transformation, according to the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijjani.
Speaking at a plenary session organised by IHS Towers during the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, Tijjani stated that the initiative aims to bridge connectivity gaps and establish a solid digital infrastructure backbone across all states, local governments, and wards in Nigeria.
He explained that with this rollout, Nigerians will have fibre-optic network access closer to their homes, enabling faster, more reliable internet beyond just mobile connectivity.
Tijjani emphasised that the core challenge in the telecom sector is infrastructure investment, which the government is actively addressing to support long-term economic and digital growth.
