The Federal Government is set to earmark N35 billion for the construction of Zaria Airport within the premises of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Kaduna State.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, disclosed this during the groundbreaking ceremony of road projects in Zaria. He said the proposed airport would help reduce pressure on the airports in Abuja and Kaduna while improving air connectivity across the northern region.
According to the Speaker, the project is part of efforts by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen transportation infrastructure and facilitate economic activities in the region. He noted that the completion of the airport would ease air travel for residents and businesses in Zaria and neighbouring communities.
Tajudeen also disclosed that about 51 road networks had been designed in Zaria Local Government Area, with some already completed and others scheduled to commence soon. He urged residents, communities and traditional leaders to protect government projects and report substandard or poorly executed works to the relevant authorities.
