Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has flagged off the 2026 Wet Season Fertiliser Distribution Programme, unveiling over 120 trucks of fertilisers and essential agricultural inputs to support farmers across the state.
Speaking at the launch in Gusau on Friday, Governor Lawal announced the distribution of 72,000 bags of fertiliser, 200,000 litres of herbicides, 100 crop residue crushers, 100 grass choppers, 100 feed milling machines, improved pasture seeds, as well as 20 motorcycles and 20 mobile phones for agricultural extension workers. He said the initiative is aimed at revitalising agriculture, strengthening food security, creating sustainable livelihoods and positioning Zamfara as a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernising agriculture through improved inputs, mechanisation, irrigation, climate-smart farming and strategic partnerships with the Federal Government and development agencies. He added that the distribution would benefit farmers across all 147 political wards in the state’s 14 local government areas, helping to increase productivity, expand cultivation and improve household incomes.
