Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for what he described as a sustained offensive against criminal elements through Operation “Kosaye”, a coordinated security operation across Lagos and Ogun states.
The operation has so far resulted in the arrest of 88 suspects, the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition, while four suspected criminals were killed during a gun battle with security operatives.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the efforts of the police, stating that the operation demonstrates the commitment of security agencies to tackling kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the Southwest.
“We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” the governor said.
He also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and acknowledged the collaboration between the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands, describing the joint operation as a model for inter-state security cooperation.
As part of the operation, security operatives are combing forest areas along the J3/J4 axis of Ogbere on the Lagos-Ogun boundary to dismantle criminal hideouts and prevent kidnappers from using the area as a safe haven.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Lagos residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information that could aid intelligence-led operations. He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
Operation “Kosaye,” which translates to “No Space for Criminals,” underscores the renewed determination of security agencies to ensure there is no safe haven for criminal elements operating within Lagos, Ogun, and the wider Southwest region.
