The Lagos State Government, through Health District III, has distributed medical and nutrition equipment to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across Ibeju-Lekki, Eti-Osa, and Epe to improve healthcare delivery for women, infants, and children.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Igbo-Efon PHC in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, the Permanent Secretary of Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, highlighted that the state’s goal is to ensure public investments yield better healthcare outcomes and improved patient experiences.
The equipment distributed includes weighing scales with height meters, fetal dopplers for antenatal care, an ultrasound machine for clinical assessments, and dedicated nutrition equipment to identify and manage nutritional needs among mothers and children.
Dr. Adeleke reminded healthcare workers that equipment alone does not improve healthcare without effective systems and dedication. She urged staff to maintain the tools properly and integrate them seamlessly into daily clinical operations.
Adding to the details, Dr. Adenike Oguntuase, Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, specified that the nutrition equipment included gas cookers, cylinders, blenders, and cutlery designed to support practical demonstrations for complementary feeding. She emphasized the importance of six months of exclusive breastfeeding before introducing nutritious home-based diets, while advising pregnant women to maintain adequate meal frequencies to support fetal growth.
