Hundreds of members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Gudu, Binji, and Tangaza Local Government Areas have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State.
Among the defectors are former Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Musa Ausa Gidan Madi, Faruk Mustapha Balle, Attahiru Salihu Bashar Kalanjeni, Umaru Zuzu, and their supporters.
The defectors were officially received by the Sokoto APC Chairman, Haruna Gobir Adiya, during the flag-off of the Gidan Madi–Binji–Gande Road Project in Tangaza Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, described the mass defection as a vote of confidence in the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, attributing the development to ongoing infrastructure and development projects across the state.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu welcomed the new members, assuring them of equal opportunities within the party and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering more democratic dividends to the people of Sokoto State.
On behalf of the defectors, the new APC members said their decision was influenced by the governor’s developmental strides and the leadership of Senator Wamakko. They also pledged to work for the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.
