The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has petitioned the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), seeking disciplinary action against an oncologist, Dr. Bello Abubakar, over allegations that he forged a medical report used to secure bail for former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
In a petition addressed to the Medical Practitioners Investigating Panel, the anti-graft agency requested that the council investigate the doctor for alleged professional misconduct.
The ICPC’s move follows claims that the medical report presented in support of El-Rufai’s bail application was falsified, prompting the commission to seek regulatory action against the physician involved.
The Medical Practitioners Investigating Panel is expected to review the allegations and determine whether disciplinary measures are warranted in line with the council’s professional standards.
