Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has assured that security agencies are intensifying efforts to secure the safe recovery of worshippers abducted during a recent attack in Niger State.
Disu gave the assurance on Saturday during a working visit to the state, where he assessed the security situation and reviewed ongoing rescue operations following the abduction of worshippers in communities within Dekara District of Borgu Local Government Area.
The IGP said the priority of the ongoing operations is to locate and safely rescue the victims while identifying, arresting and prosecuting those responsible for the attack. He also stressed the need for sustained collaboration among the police, other security agencies and local communities to strengthen intelligence gathering and support the rescue mission.
The visit comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of Niger State following the incident. Disu directed security personnel to intensify surveillance and coordinated operations in affected areas, while assuring residents that efforts would continue until the abducted worshippers are safely recovered and the perpetrators brought to justice.
