Ikeja Local Government has conducted its monthly environmental sanitation exercise as part of sustained efforts to promote a cleaner, healthier and safer environment for residents across the council area.
The exercise commenced from the Council Secretariat, bringing together council officials, environmental officers, community stakeholders and residents in a coordinated clean-up campaign.
Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability, noting that regular sanitation plays a vital role in preventing disease outbreaks, safeguarding public health and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
Activities carried out during the exercise included the clearing of blocked drainage channels, evacuation of refuse, sweeping of major roads and the inspection of public spaces to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
The council also appealed to residents to support government efforts by adopting proper waste disposal habits, keeping their surroundings clean and participating actively in future environmental sanitation exercises to sustain a cleaner, healthier and more livable Ikeja.
