Former Super Eagles defender Chikelue Iloenyosi has been re-elected Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) for another four-year term after securing a unanimous victory at the association’s elective congress.
Iloenyosi, who was the sole candidate for the position, received all 23 votes cast by accredited delegates, reaffirming his leadership of the state football body.
The results were announced by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Uche Okeke, who declared the former international the winner of the election.
In the vice-chairmanship contest, Johnson Ifejika defeated the incumbent with 19 votes to 4.
Other elected board members include Ralph George and Obi Moneke (Anambra Central), Michael Igboka and Emmanuel Azubuike Okeke (Anambra North), as well as Michael Mbaezue, Donatus Ezeokafor, and Ijeoma Nwosu (Anambra South).
A representative of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Muhamed Ameenu, commended the peaceful conduct of the election and urged the new board to prioritise the development of football in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Iloenyosi thanked delegates for their confidence and pledged to run an inclusive administration focused on uniting stakeholders and strengthening grassroots football development in collaboration with the Anambra State Government and sports associations.
Delegates from all 21 local government areas of the state, alongside representatives of coaches and players’ unions, participated in the congress, which ended with the presentation of certificates of return to elected officials.
