The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that it revised the campaign timetable for the 2027 general elections.
The commission described the viral graphic as fake, stressing that it did not originate from INEC and that no new campaign timetable has been released.
The misleading graphic falsely claimed that campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections would end on January 15, 2027, instead of January 14, 2027, as contained in the commission’s official timetable.
It also incorrectly stated that campaigns for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections would end on February 5, 2027, instead of the official February 4, 2027 deadline.
Reacting to the development, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, urged Nigerians to disregard the viral graphic, insisting that the commission had not issued any revised campaign schedule.
INEC advised the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels.
