Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala collapsed during a friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday, marking the second such incident involving the 23-year-old in four days.
Musiala went down off the ball during the match, prompting Bayern’s medical staff to rush onto the pitch. He eventually got back on his feet and was able to jog briefly before being substituted.
The incident came two days after Musiala collapsed during Bayern’s friendly against RB Leipzig. He was able to walk off the pitch after receiving medical attention and later returned to individual training.
Following Tuesday’s match, Musiala explained on Instagram that he had been experiencing “brief, temporary — but highly treatable — absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.”
He said the episodes were responsible for the incidents against Leipzig and Heidenheim and assured fans that he was receiving medical care and that there was no further health risk.
“I know they might look scary at first glance, but for me, they are currently just part of my everyday life,” Musiala said, adding that he remained optimistic about his recovery.
The Germany international featured in all four of his country’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring once before Germany were eliminated by Paraguay in the round of 32.
