The Kano State Government has arrested three suspects over the alleged unauthorised demolition of the old Watari Bridge in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Commissioner for Lands, Abduljabbar Umar, announced the arrests during an unscheduled inspection of the site, where the suspects were reportedly caught demolishing the bridge without government approval.
Umar noted that the bridge, built more than 50 years ago, has long served as a vital route for herders moving livestock and as a key link between Rogo Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.
The commissioner said the government had seized the bulldozer allegedly used in the demolition and launched a wider investigation to identify other individuals connected to the incident.
He warned that anyone found culpable would face legal sanctions and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
