Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has praised the Federal Government for suspending the planned increase in the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination fees, describing the move as a major relief for millions of Nigerian families.
The governor, who spoke while presenting appointment letters to 4,900 newly recruited teachers for basic and secondary schools and engaging 3,688 Abba Gida-Gida BESDA Cohort V facilitators, said the decision would ease the financial burden on parents and improve access to quality education.
Yusuf also commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at expanding educational opportunities across the country. He praised the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for their commitment to making education more accessible and affordable.
He noted that the timely release of UBEC counterpart funds has supported the construction and rehabilitation of schools, as well as the implementation of key basic education projects across Kano State.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Ministry of Education, UBEC, NECO and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen the education sector and improve learning outcomes.
