Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has called for stronger collaboration among security agencies and increased social and economic interventions to tackle terrorism, banditry and other security threats across the North-West.
Radda, represented by his deputy, Faruk Jobe, made the call on Thursday while declaring open the second North-West Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security, organised by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The governor stressed the need for a coordinated approach involving government, security agencies and local communities, while also advocating responsible media reporting and strategic counter-propaganda to boost the morale of security personnel.
He said Katsina had recorded improvements in security through a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic measures, including support for victims of banditry, free medical care and investments in agriculture to strengthen livelihoods.
The conference, themed “Unite Against Terror,” brought together security chiefs, traditional rulers, local government representatives, intelligence officers and other stakeholders.
The DSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi, also called for a united and coordinated response among security agencies, government institutions and communities to address terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities in the region.
