Kwara State is strengthening healthcare services for women and families through the adoption of an integrated care model designed to improve access to essential health services.
The initiative, supported by WHO Nigeria, CHAI and Jhpiego in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Kwara State Ministry of Health, promotes the “One Visit, Full Care” approach with support from the Global Fund.
The model enables women to access services for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) during a single visit, helping to reduce missed diagnoses, save time and improve access to quality care.
The initiative comes amid persistent maternal health challenges in Nigeria, including a maternal mortality ratio of 512 deaths per 100,000 live births and gaps in access to skilled antenatal care.
Her Excellency, Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, has reaffirmed her commitment to advancing integrated healthcare services across Kwara State.
The model is also being expanded, with Anambra, Ebonyi and Gombe States preparing to adopt similar approaches.
