The Lagos State Audit Service Commission has organised a knowledge-sharing session for its officers as part of efforts to promote professionalism, discipline and ethical conduct within the public service.
The session, held at the Commission’s Conference Room, focused on strengthening staff understanding of disciplinary procedures, workplace ethics and the responsibilities of public officers in line with established service standards.
Two resource persons from within the Commission delivered presentations during the programme. Mrs. Oluwole Gloria Olamide, Head of the Discipline and Exit Department, spoke on “Discipline in the Public Service,” while Mr. Gbotesho Kazeem, Director of Administration and Human Resources, presented on “Rules on Discipline and Exit.”
In her presentation, Mrs. Oluwole described discipline as the commitment to established rules, standards and ethical values that guide public servants in the performance of their duties.
She noted that all officers are governed by the Public Service Rules and stressed the importance of integrity, accountability and professionalism in maintaining public confidence and effective service delivery.
Speaking on disciplinary procedures, Mr. Gbotesho provided participants with an overview of the various categories of misconduct and the sanctions applicable under the Civil Service framework.
He explained that offences may attract disciplinary actions such as interdiction, suspension, termination of appointment or dismissal, depending on the severity of the misconduct.
The Director urged officers to familiarise themselves with the Public Service Rules and remain committed to upholding the values and principles of the civil service.
The interactive session provided participants with an opportunity to seek clarifications, exchange ideas and gain deeper knowledge of the regulations guiding discipline and professional conduct in the public sector.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to developing a disciplined, efficient and professional workforce capable of delivering quality services in alignment with the vision of the Lagos State Government.
