The Lagos State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a work-free day across the state to commemorate the 2026 Isese Day celebration.
The declaration is aimed at allowing residents to participate in activities marking Isese Day, which celebrates the cultural heritage, traditions and indigenous practices of the Yoruba people.
The state government said the observance underscores its commitment to promoting and preserving Lagos’ rich cultural heritage while encouraging peaceful coexistence among residents of diverse backgrounds.
Residents are expected to use the day to celebrate responsibly and participate in cultural activities that promote unity, identity and appreciation of indigenous traditions.
