In a major push to guarantee food security and stimulate economic growth across the state, the Lagos State Agricultural Input Supply Authority (LAISA) has officially hosted the Y2026 Farmers’ Forum, reinforcing the government’s unwavering support for local food producers.
Held under the theme “Enhancing Agricultural Inputs Delivery for Food Security and Economic Growth,” the high-profile event convened key agricultural stakeholders, policymakers, development partners, and farmers from across the state to tackle input distribution bottlenecks and chart a sustainable path forward for Lagos’ agricultural sector.
Highlighting the state’s strategic vision, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, emphasized that empowering farmers with modern, high-grade resources is no longer optional—it is critical.
“Timely access to quality agricultural inputs remains essential to expanding our food production capabilities, directly empowering our local farmers, and driving sustainable economic growth,” Dr. Sanwo-Olu stated.
Echoing these remarks, the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture,Abisola Olusanya urged participating farmers to maximize the support provided to boost their seasonal yields and meaningfully advance the state’s broader food security goals.
A major highlight of the forum was the direct distribution of high-grade fertilizers to registered farmers. The initiative is aimed at immediately raising production capacity, lowering operational costs, and boosting rural livelihoods.
Speaking during the distribution phase, the General Manager of LAISA, Folake Oluyemi reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for agrarian business to thrive for a resilient, self-sufficient economy.
Beneficiaries at the forum expressed immense appreciation to both the Lagos State Government and LAISA for the timely interventions. Local farmers noted that receiving direct input support ahead of the core farming cycles will go a long way toward increasing crop yields, reducing market volatility, and stabilizing local food prices.
