Addressing the persistent structural gaps in housing and infrastructure, Olokoba highlighted the need for long-term planning and regional integration. He noted that traditional mortgage systems often fail ordinary salary earners, calling for alternative homeownership schemes, federal fund co-sponsorships, and cross-border collaborations via regional frameworks like the DAWN Agenda to alleviate urban pressure.
On tax administration, Olokoba advocated for expanding the tax net, noting that over 70% of eligible residents currently operate outside the formal system. He emphasized that maintaining public infrastructure, security, and sanitation requires civic contribution, while also addressing complaints about double taxation by blaming Nigeria’s centralized revenue model rather than state-level governance.
