The Lagos State Ministry of Health has dismissed as false claims circulating online that Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, has only one functional dialysis machine.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the hospital’s Dialysis Centre has eight functional dialysis machines. He explained that six machines serve general dialysis patients, while two are dedicated to patients living with HIV or hepatitis in line with infection prevention and control practices.
According to the Commissioner, dialysis sessions at the centre begin as early as 6:00 a.m., with services continuing until the last patient is attended to, sometimes as late as midnight. He added that the centre conducts up to 200 dialysis sessions monthly and operates with the support of a dedicated standby generator.
Abayomi also noted that dialysis services are available at other public health facilities across Lagos, including LASUTH, General Hospital Lagos, General Hospital Gbagada, IDH Yaba and FMC Ebute Metta, with additional centres expected to come on stream.
The Commissioner reaffirmed that the health and wellbeing of Lagos residents remain a priority of the Lagos State Ministry of Health.
