The Lagos State Government has honoured 506 officers of the Unified Local Government Service for their dedication and years of service to the state.
Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event, Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat commended the awardees for their dedication, perseverance, commitment and professionalism over the years.
The officers were recognised at the 2026 Long Service Merit Award ceremony held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday.
Sanwo-Olu described their contributions as an important part of Lagos’ institutional history, assuring public servants that his administration and successive governments would continue to support effective service delivery and career development.
He said the Unified Local Government Service remained critical to delivering government services at the grassroots, noting that residents interact directly with government through the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
The governor also urged younger officers to learn from the experience of the awardees through mentorship, training and knowledge sharing.
Head of Service, Bode Agoro, commended the state government for sustaining the Long Service Merit Award and urged younger public servants to remain committed to continuous learning and professional development.
Agoro also encouraged workers to prioritise their health and make regular use of the Ilera Eko health insurance scheme.
