The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, has urged public servants to prioritise their health by undergoing regular medical check-ups to promote early detection and prevention of diseases.

Agoro made the call during the August edition of the monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Saturday.

He stressed that a healthy workforce is critical to effective and efficient service delivery, adding that maintaining good health is a collective responsibility for all public servants.
Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, commended workers for their consistent participation in the monthly fitness exercise and encouraged them to sustain healthy lifestyle habits and good personal hygiene.

A Health Educator from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Adefunke Amodu, underscored the importance of routine medical examinations, urging public servants to regularly monitor their health status through screenings, particularly for hepatitis, a viral disease that primarily affects the liver.
She advised participants to avoid unprotected sexual intercourse, exposure to unsterilised medical equipment and sharp objects, as well as excessive alcohol consumption. She also encouraged healthy eating by consuming hygienically prepared meals, fruits, vegetables and adequate amounts of water.
The monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise is part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to promote healthy living, improve the well-being of public servants and enhance productivity across the state workforce.
