Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, has urged public servants to prioritise regular medical check-ups for early detection and prevention of health conditions.
Agoro made the call on Saturday, September 5, 2026, during the September edition of the monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

He stressed that a healthy workforce is essential for effective and efficient service delivery, adding that maintaining good health requires conscious and consistent effort.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Health District I, Dr. Pitan, encouraged public servants to make annual medical screenings a priority, suggesting birthdays as a useful reminder. He advised women to undergo regular cervical and breast cancer screenings, while men were encouraged to have routine prostate cancer checks.

The Principal Medical Officer, Dr. Kehinde Adeniran, also urged public servants to reduce alcohol consumption and avoid smoking, noting that unhealthy lifestyle practices can increase the risk of serious illnesses, including cancer.
The monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to promote healthy living, physical fitness, productivity and overall well-being among public servants.
