The FRSC says counter-flow driving by some motorists worsened the gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, particularly around Kara, OPIC and Fagbems.
Lagos Sector Commander, Kehinde Hamzat, said a fallen container initially disrupted traffic, but motorists driving against the flow later compounded the situation.
He said FRSC, LASTMA, the Police and other security agencies have increased personnel deployment to stop counter-flow driving and restore movement.
Hamzat also urged motorists caught in prolonged traffic to park safely, rest for 10–15 minutes when necessary and continue their journey when conditions improve.
