Lagos State is intensifying preparations to host the inaugural National Intermediate Sports Festival, with ongoing rehabilitation of major sports facilities across the state.
The inspection included the Teslim Balogun Stadium, where significant progress has been recorded. The natural grass pitch has been completed, while work on the new tartan track is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
Other facilities, including indoor sports halls and swimming pools, are also undergoing upgrades ahead of the arrival of thousands of young athletes from across Nigeria.
The state government said the rehabilitation programme is part of its broader investment in sports infrastructure, with sports centres being upgraded over the past three years in areas including Surulere, Ikorodu, Epe, Agege and Badagry.
The initiative is aimed at providing young people with quality sporting facilities closer to their communities, helping them discover and develop their talents while creating pathways for competitive sports and future careers.
Lagos State said it is ready to welcome the next generation of Nigerian athletes as preparations continue for the National Intermediate Sports Festival.
