The Lagos State Government has unveiled its Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Policy, aimed at strengthening coordinated efforts to prevent Sexual and Gender-Based Violence across the State.
The policy addresses SGBV in homes, workplaces, schools and digital spaces, while shifting greater attention towards prevention, early intervention, accountability and tackling harmful social norms.
According to the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the framework is built around four pillars: education and awareness, stronger legal and policy mechanisms, survivor-centred services, and capacity building for first responders.
Implementation will be overseen by a multi-sectoral Technical Working Group, with progress monitored through localised data indicators, heat mapping, quarterly reviews and public reporting.
The Lagos State Government also acknowledged the support of the Ford Foundation towards the development and launch of the policy.
