Lagos State has been ranked among Nigeria’s top 10 states for ease of doing business, alongside Kaduna State, Oyo State, the Federal Capital Territory, Ogun State, Enugu State, Plateau State, Ekiti State, Kano State, and Nasarawa State.
The ranking, published in the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report, highlights significant progress in reform-driven states, including up to a 40% reduction in business registration time, over 30% gains in land administration efficiency, and notable improvements in digital services and dispute resolution.
Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, Zahrah Mustapha Audu, announced the results in Abuja, noting that consistent reforms are delivering measurable outcomes and sending strong signals to investors about Nigeria’s growing transparency, predictability, and competitiveness.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu attributed Lagos’ ranking to deliberate policies aimed at creating a thriving environment for both local and foreign investments, adding that the state will continue to strengthen its business-friendly climate.
At the event, supported by the British High Commission and other partners, stakeholders emphasized the need to translate reforms into real, practical benefits for businesses—such as faster approvals, clearer regulations, and smoother capital flow.
Officials also stressed that Nigeria’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy will depend heavily on state-level reforms and private sector participation. Lagos, which contributes over 30% of the nation’s GDP and dominates commercial activity, continues to drive reforms through improved infrastructure, digital systems, and investor-friendly policies.
