The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents and traders in Mushin that the area remains safe following a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that caused panic on Monday.
Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, said Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts were immediately deployed to the scene after reports of the blast. The area was secured and thoroughly searched to prevent further danger.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by an IED allegedly planted beneath a vehicle, which detonated when the vehicle was started.
One person sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police say the victim is stable and responding well.
Security operatives have since completed a comprehensive sweep of the area and confirmed that no additional explosive devices were found. Fragments recovered from the scene have been sent for forensic analysis as investigations continue.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, stressing that the situation is under control.
