The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and nurturing young creative talents through strategic investment in arts, culture and creative education.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the month-long Surulere Children Art & Crafts Workshop and Exhibition, Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, said initiatives like the programme are vital to developing creativity, confidence and future economic opportunities among children and teenagers.
The workshop, organised by the Nigerian Children Cultural Heritage Initiative and endorsed by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, exposed participants to drawing, painting, photography, poetry and crafts. The closing ceremony featured traditional dance, indigenous music, Yoruba chants and a children’s fashion parade showcasing the skills acquired during the programme.
The State Government said it would continue to support youth-focused cultural initiatives that promote skills development, cultural preservation and talent discovery, in line with the creative economy pillar of the THEMES Plus Agenda.
