The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the Lagos State Examinations Board (LSEB), has successfully concluded the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which was held from Monday, June 29 to Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The examination was conducted across public and approved private junior secondary schools in the six Education Districts of Lagos State and was widely adjudged peaceful, orderly, seamless, and hitch-free.
Speaking on the successful completion of the exercise, the Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu, commended all stakeholders for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment throughout the examination period.
According to the Registrar, the Board ensured meticulous planning from the registration process through to the successful conclusion of the examination. He noted that effective coordination, adequate logistics, the timely distribution of examination materials, and comprehensive monitoring were instrumental in ensuring the smooth and credible conduct of the exercise.
Mr. Orunsolu also acknowledged the support of the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite; and the Tutors-General/Permanent Secretaries of the six Education Districts. He said their visits to selected examination centres underscored the Ministry’s commitment to quality assurance, transparency, and the integrity of public examinations.
The Board further expressed appreciation to school principals, proprietors and proprietresses, supervisors, examination officials, and other stakeholders whose collaboration ensured that candidates sat for the examination in a safe, secure, and conducive environment.
Reaffirming its commitment to excellence, the Lagos State Examinations Board stated that it will continue to uphold the highest standards of credibility, fairness, and integrity in the conduct of public examinations while implementing measures that strengthen confidence in Lagos State’s educational assessment system.
