The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is set to host a stakeholders’ workshop focused on strengthening Community-Based Tourism and increasing community participation in the sustainable development of tourism across the state.
The workshop, themed “Strengthening Community-Based Tourism: Building Sustainable Tourism through Community Participation,” is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture Auditorium, Ikeja.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, said the workshop will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss practical strategies for promoting sustainable tourism through community participation, ownership and collaboration.
She noted that Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas are well positioned to identify tourism assets and opportunities at the grassroots, while ensuring that local communities are actively involved in their development and promotion.
The Ministry said representatives of LGAs and LCDAs have been invited to share their perspectives, experiences and ideas on how community participation can support tourism development, create local economic opportunities and promote Lagos as a leading tourism destination.
