Lagos has secured the rights to host the 2026 CAF Awards, bringing African football’s most prestigious individual awards ceremony back to Nigeria after several years in Morocco.
The event will be held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, marking Nigeria’s third time hosting the awards after previous editions in Lagos in 2015 and Abuja in 2017.
The hosting rights were reportedly approved by President Bola Tinubu following discussions with CAF President Patrice Motsepe on advancing football development across Africa.
The return of the CAF Awards to Nigeria is expected to reinforce the country’s position as a major destination for international sporting events while showcasing Lagos’ capacity to host world-class ceremonies.
The annual CAF Awards celebrate outstanding achievements by African footballers, coaches, clubs and national teams, attracting top football stars and dignitaries from across the continent.
