Lagos will host the 2026 CAF Awards after Nigeria secured the rights to stage African football’s biggest individual awards ceremony, marking the event’s return to the country after several years in Morocco.
The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a major destination for continental sporting events.
Nigeria previously hosted the CAF Awards in Lagos in 2015 and Abuja in 2017, with the 2026 edition set to bring together Africa’s top football stars, coaches, and administrators for another celebration of excellence in the sport.
The hosting rights were reportedly approved by President Bola Tinubu following discussions with CAF President Patrice Motsepe on advancing football development across the continent.
The successful bid is expected to further strengthen Nigeria’s partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and boost the country’s profile as a preferred venue for major African football events.
