The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 with the unveiling of the LSDP 2052 Tracking Dashboard, a strategic performance management tool designed to enhance accountability, improve coordination among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and support evidence-based decision-making.
The dashboard was unveiled during the Stakeholders’ Parley on the Implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 Initiatives, held on Tuesday at the Protea Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja. The event, themed “Achieving Lagos’ Vision: Africa’s Model Mega-City, a Global Economic and Financial Hub that is Safe, Secure, Functional and Productive,” brought together Accounting Officers and senior government officials to strengthen collaboration and align institutional priorities toward the successful delivery of the State’s long-term development agenda.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, described the LSDP 2052 as Lagos State’s strategic blueprint for sustainable development and transformational governance.
According to her, the development plan provides clear priorities, measurable outcomes and defined responsibilities for MDAs, while placing Accounting Officers at the centre of translating government policies into tangible results through effective planning, prudent resource management, timely project execution and continuous performance monitoring.
Ojo urged participants to actively exchange ideas, identify implementation challenges and propose innovative solutions capable of strengthening institutional performance and accelerating the delivery of the State’s development priorities.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Lekan Balogun, described the LSDP 2052 as the collective vision of Lagos over the next three decades.
He noted that the successful implementation of the plan would depend on disciplined execution, sustainable financing, effective collaboration and robust monitoring mechanisms.
“The Lagos State Development Plan 2052 is more than a planning document. It is the collective vision of Lagos for the next three decades. It is our strategic commitment to building Africa’s Model Mega-City—a city that is globally competitive, economically resilient, socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable and driven by effective governance,” he said.
Balogun explained that the newly introduced Tracking Dashboard represents a significant milestone in institutionalising evidence-based planning and performance management across government institutions. He said the platform would enable real-time monitoring of project implementation, early identification of bottlenecks and objective performance assessment to support informed policy decisions.
He further stressed the importance of integrating planning with budgeting, noting that development priorities must be adequately reflected in annual budgets to ensure efficient public spending and improved service delivery for residents.
The Commissioner also called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies to deepen inter-ministerial collaboration, improve the quality of data and reporting, minimise implementation delays and embrace collective ownership of the State’s long-term development agenda.
“The future of Lagos will not be determined by the quality of our plans alone. It will be determined by the quality of our execution. Great cities are built through consistency, collaboration, accountability and disciplined implementation,” he stated, urging all MDAs to deliver their assigned initiatives with professionalism, excellence and measurable impact.
At the close of the parley, participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships and promoting a results-driven public service to ensure the successful implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan 2052.
The LSDP 2052 serves as Lagos State’s long-term strategic blueprint, providing a comprehensive roadmap for inclusive economic growth, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, social welfare and institutional excellence, while aligning government policies and investments with the vision of building a globally competitive, safe, secure, functional and prosperous megacity.
