The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has warned parents, guardians and members of the public against individuals using social media flyers to falsely claim they can facilitate the transfer of pupils and students between schools.
In a disclaimer, the ministry clarified that the individuals behind the flyers are neither staff nor representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. It urged parents and guardians not to patronise such agents or make any payments to them, stressing that official school transfer information should be obtained directly from the ministry.
The ministry directed anyone seeking a school transfer to visit the 4th Floor, Block 5, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alausa, Ikeja, for complete and official information. It also announced that transfers to model colleges are now closed.
For transfers into government junior and senior secondary schools, applicants are required to provide relevant academic results, a birth certificate, passport photograph and an application letter. SS1 applicants must provide their first and second-term results and the JS3 BECE examination number, while JS2 applicants are required to submit their second and third-term JS1 results.
The approved fees are ₦5,000 for public-to-public transfers, ₦10,000 for private-to-public junior school transfers and ₦20,000 for private-to-public senior school transfers. The government urged the public to remain vigilant and rely only on official channels to avoid falling victim to fraud.
