The Lagos State Government has commended Brown’s Table, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), for donating cardiac monitors to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across Ibeju-Lekki, Eti-Osa, Epe and Onigbongbo Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.
The commendation was given on Saturday by the Permanent Secretary, Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, during the presentation of the equipment at VIBE Dining and Lounge, Akin Olugbade Street, Victoria Island.
Adeleke said the donation was in line with the state government’s efforts to strengthen public-private partnerships in the health sector, noting that government alone could not meet the healthcare needs of the growing population.
She described the gesture as timely support for improving healthcare delivery and called on other organisations, social groups and stakeholders to complement government’s efforts.
“I would like to describe this gesture as a timely support for improving healthcare delivery. The government cannot do it alone, but various support from organisations, social groups and other stakeholders would complement the government’s efforts to provide better healthcare services to the citizenry,” she said.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the cardiac monitors would be deployed to PHCs across Health District III and Health District VI, particularly facilities where the equipment is most needed.
She added that the facilities would be monitored to ensure the proper utilisation and maintenance of the equipment, stressing the importance of maximising its impact on patient care.
Adeleke also urged residents to enrol in the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and improve access to quality medical services.
Earlier, the Chairman of Brown’s Table, Mr. Kunle Adeniji, described the donation as a modest contribution towards strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that residents have access to timely and quality medical services at the grassroots.
Adeniji said the organisation was proud to partner with the Lagos State Government through Health Districts III and VI, urging the authorities to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the equipment.
“We are proud to partner with the Lagos State Government through Health District III and Health District VI in these efforts. We urge the Districts to ensure proper use and maintenance of the equipment so that more lives can be saved. Brown’s Table NGO remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote health and wellbeing for all Lagosians,” he said.
