The Lagos State Government has declared zero tolerance for undisclosed changes to consumer products, directing manufacturers, importers, distributors and businesses to immediately disclose any material alterations to their products.
The directive covers changes to packaging, labelling, formulation, ingredients, weight, size, quality and other product specifications.
The General Manager/CEO of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Afolabi Solebo, Esq., said the measure is aimed at strengthening consumer protection, promoting transparency and eliminating deceptive trade practices.
LASCOPA also warned that businesses found making undisclosed product changes would face strict regulatory sanctions in line with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Law and other applicable regulations.
The Agency said it would intensify market surveillance and enforcement to ensure full compliance.
