The Lagos State Government has extended its Eko Digital Training programme to young residents in the Badagry and Ikorodu divisions, reaffirming its commitment to digital literacy, technological advancement and youth empowerment.
The initiative, implemented through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, is part of the administration’s efforts to equip young Lagosians with relevant digital and entrepreneurial skills needed to compete in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
The five-day training programme, which runs from September 7 to September 11, 2026, is taking place at two designated centres: the Badagry Division Iba ICT Centre in Iba Town, Iba LCDA, and the Homat School of Basic Studies CBT Centre in Igbogbo, Ikorodu Division.
Participants are being exposed to a range of practical courses covering emerging technologies and professional development. The curriculum includes an introduction to artificial intelligence, fundamental digital skills and information technology, as well as emotional intelligence and other competencies aimed at improving career and personal effectiveness.
Speaking to training facilitators, group coordinators, ministry officials and some participants at his office in Ikeja, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing young people with quality and practical education. He said the specialised training was designed to give participants the competitive advantage required to succeed in modern careers and entrepreneurial ventures.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Adeniran Kasali, said strategic investment in digital education remained essential to building a globally competitive economy and tackling youth unemployment. He urged participants to make the most of the opportunity by strengthening their digital and entrepreneurial capabilities and maximising the government’s investment in their development.
Kasali also encouraged eligible youths across Badagry and Ikorodu to take advantage of the free training opportunities available to them, stressing that the skills acquired could enhance their capacity for self-reliance, employment and professional growth.
