The Lagos State Government has urged motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to plan their journeys ahead of the commencement of repair works on the damaged expansion joints at the Kara Bridge.
The repair, announced by the Federal Ministry of Works, is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and is expected to last for two weeks.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, one half of the affected section will be closed at a time, while motorists will share the available half interchangeably to minimise the impact of the repairs on traffic flow.
Osiyemi appealed to motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic managers throughout the rehabilitation period to ensure the works are completed as scheduled.
